About the Role

Gap Inc. is looking for a visionary Vice President of Analytics & Customer Data Science to lead enterprise-wide data strategy and insights across Customer Experience, Merchandising, Inventory, and Product Design. This executive leader will shape business growth by leveraging advanced analytics, AI, and data-driven decision frameworks to influence strategic decisions at the highest level.

This role sits at the intersection of business strategy, analytics innovation, and organizational transformation.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute enterprise analytics strategy across customer, merchandising, inventory, and design functions.
  • Partner with senior executives to drive measurable business outcomes through data insights.

Data Storytelling & Executive Influence

  • Translate complex analytics into compelling business narratives for executive leadership.
  • Provide actionable insights that support growth, innovation, and competitive advantage.

Insights-Driven Business Strategy

  • Use predictive modeling, machine learning, and analytics to:
    • Improve customer experience
    • Optimize merchandising strategies
    • Enhance inventory efficiency
    • Inform product design decisions

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with product, engineering, marketing, finance, and operations leaders.
  • Align analytics initiatives with enterprise strategy and priorities.

Innovation & Best Practices

  • Introduce cutting-edge analytics methodologies and AI capabilities.
  • Build scalable analytics frameworks and governance standards.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and grow high-performing teams of data scientists, analysts, and insights professionals.
  • Foster a culture of data literacy, experimentation, and continuous learning.

Required Qualifications

  • Senior leadership experience driving business strategy through analytics.
  • Strong background in:
    • Customer analytics
    • Retail or e-commerce analytics
    • Predictive modeling & machine learning
  • Expertise with tools such as SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI.
  • Proven experience leading large cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Economics, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • Experience leading organizational transformation through data.
  • Deep understanding of retail consumer behavior and industry trends.
