Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate and creative Data Scientist III to join Walmart’s Data Science team. In this role, you will work with massive business and social datasets generated across Walmart’s online and offline commerce ecosystem. You will transform complex data into actionable insights, enabling data-driven decisions and measurable business impact.
You will collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders at the intersection of analytics, big data, infrastructure, and operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with product and business teams to identify fraud trends and patterns through data storytelling and visualization
- Analyze large-scale, high-dimensional, real-time datasets to detect anomalies and opportunities
- Build dashboards and reports to monitor business performance metrics
- Ensure data quality through validation, documentation, and governance best practices
- Research and apply advanced analytical methods to solve complex business problems
Required Qualifications
Option 1:
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, IT, or related field
- 2+ years of analytics experience
Option 2:
- Master’s degree in a related quantitative field
Option 3:
- 4+ years of relevant analytics experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in data science, machine learning, or optimization models
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, or R
- Experience with distributed data tools such as BigQuery, Hive, or Spark
- Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker)
- Knowledge of open-source ML frameworks (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2) is a plus
