Job Summary:
The Software Engineer is responsible for taking part in software design and architecture discussions. The Software Engineer will also be working collaboratively with team members, end users, and writing testable, bug free code. Responsibilities also include planning, maintaining, and implementing back/front end integrations to ensure efficient execution as well as compliance to business, technical, ethical and industry best practice and requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain both internal and public facing software solutions
• Work with others to design the UX and UI of new applications
• Listen to customers’ stories to create solutions for their needs
• Participates in peer review of architecture and code reviews with teammates Uses JIRA and version control
• Add features and fix bugs in existing applications
• Help improve and maintain libraries which are used by all our applications
• Research new technologies and determine which ones are suitable for inclusion in our applications
• Documents solutions with architecture diagrams, testing plans, and technical specifications
• Participates in architecture reviews with Software Development Manager
• Work with the IT Infrastructure team to successfully provision and deploy applications into production environments
• Commitment to working in an accountable and transparent fashion
• Special projects as assigned by leadership
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures and distributed systems
• Able to work with multiple programming languages in multiple paradigms
• Familiar with SQL background, familiarity with NoSQL alternatives
• Strong experience using best practices when working with REST APIs
• Comfortable working in both Windows + GNU/Linux Server environments
• Able to use Git to manage and merge changes in a project
• Strong GNU/Linux terminal skills – You don’t have to be a sysadmin, but you should be able to do the basics without help
• Ability to accomplish goals collaboratively and alone
• Experience or willingness to learn Javascript/React, C#, Swift
• Motivated self-learner on new languages, platforms and technologies
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to simplify the technical
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems
