Job Overview:
We are seeking a Senior UX and Product Design Lead with strong web development experience to create user-centric digital experiences that enhance education technology solutions. This role is pivotal in ensuring that applications and websites are intuitive, accessible, and effectively meet the needs of educators, administrators, and students. The position requires independent judgment, initiative, and leadership across UX design, product development, and deployment processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead UX/UI design efforts, ensuring solutions adhere to agency design standards and industry best practices.
  • Translate user research into actionable requirements, including user stories, flows, wireframes, and prototypes.
  • Conduct user testing and outreach to validate design decisions and improve end-user experience.
  • Collaborate with product teams, developers, and stakeholders, including senior leadership, to align design solutions with product roadmap goals.
  • Ensure that designs meet accessibility standards and comply with federal accessibility guidelines (Section 508).
  • Maintain documentation of wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and design rationales.
  • Utilize Atlassian Jira or equivalent for issue tracking and project management.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on large-scale UX/UI projects, fostering a user-centered design culture within the organization.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience in software product development, UX/UI design, or digital design.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating user research, visual design, usability studies, wireframes, and prototypes.
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Figma or comparable software.
  • Experience conducting user and usability research, including accessibility evaluations.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and facilitation skills.
  • Direct experience leading large-scale UX/UI initiatives.
  • Familiarity with state or local education agencies (TEA experience preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in complex projects.
