Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Web Developer / Senior UX Designer who is passionate about building intuitive digital experiences and improving how users interact with web applications and platforms. In this role, you will focus on creating user-centered solutions that enhance education technology integration and support leaders in focusing more effectively on student outcomes.

You will play a key leadership role in product design, collaborating with stakeholders, developers, and product teams to ensure successful deployment of technology solutions while maintaining a strong user-first approach.

Key Responsibilities

User Experience Strategy

• Create and maintain a user-centric design approach throughout the product lifecycle.
• Ensure digital products deliver a positive and productive end-user experience.
• Guide UX decisions that align with organizational goals and user needs.

UX/UI Design Leadership

• Oversee UX/UI designs and ensure they follow:
  • Industry best practices
  • Accessibility standards
  • Agency-wide design guidelines
• Lead large-scale UX/UI initiatives and design improvements.
• Provide design direction to development and product teams.

Research & Product Planning

• Translate research findings into:
  • User stories
  • Product requirements
  • User flows
  • Wireframes
  • Interactive prototypes
• Help shape the future product roadmap with product leadership.

User Testing & Feedback

• Conduct user research and usability testing.
• Gather feedback from stakeholders and real users.
• Ensure solutions effectively meet end-user needs.

Cross-Team Collaboration

• Partner with:
  • Product Managers
  • Developers
  • Product Designers
  • Senior Leadership
• Present and justify design solutions using research and data.
• Collaborate with both internal and external teams.

Required Qualifications

Professional Experience

• Experience in software product development, UX/UI design, or digital product design.
• Demonstrated experience leading large-scale UX/UI initiatives.
• Strong portfolio showcasing:
  • User research
  • Visual design
  • Usability studies
  • Product thinking

UX Design Skills

• Expertise in creating:
  • Wireframes
  • Mockups
  • Prototypes
• Strong understanding of UX best practices and usability principles.

Tools & Technologies

• Experience using Figma or similar design tools.
• Familiarity with Atlassian Jira for issue tracking and project management.

Research & Communication

• Experience conducting user research and usability testing.
• Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
• Strong facilitation and presentation abilities.

Accessibility Knowledge

• Experience ensuring websites and applications comply with federal accessibility guidelines (such as WCAG standards).

Preferred Experience

• Experience working with education technology systems.
• Prior work with state or local education agencies.
• Experience collaborating with organizations similar to TEA (Texas Education Agency) or other government education bodies.
