Job Description

As a Senior Front-End Engineer on the HTS Stays & Packages team at Hopper, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing user-facing applications that power hotel bookings and travel packages.

You will work closely with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and data scientists to deliver seamless booking experiences that directly impact millions of users. The role requires strong technical expertise in modern front-end frameworks, performance optimization, and scalable architecture design.

This position goes beyond writing code—you will actively contribute to architectural decisions, mentor junior engineers, and help shape the future of Hopper’s travel booking experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain high-quality front-end applications for the HTS Stays & Packages platform
  • Build reusable UI components and scalable front-end architecture
  • Collaborate with product and design teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and responsiveness
  • Integrate APIs and backend services into user-facing features
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and technical issues
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure high standards of code quality
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing
  • Work in an agile environment with continuous delivery practices
  • Contribute to improving development workflows, tools, and engineering best practices

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in front-end development
  • Strong expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Hands-on experience with modern frameworks such as React or similar libraries
  • Deep understanding of component-based architecture and state management
  • Experience with REST APIs and asynchronous programming
  • Strong knowledge of web performance optimization techniques
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks and unit/integration testing
  • Experience working in distributed or remote engineering teams
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience preferred
