Role Overview
Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is seeking a Senior Director to lead the R&D Data Science & Digital Health Real-World Evidence (RWE) team within Neuroscience. This leadership role will drive strategy, innovation, and execution of evidence generation initiatives using real-world data (RWD), clinical trial data, and emerging digital health sources to support clinical development, regulatory submissions, and patient outcomes.
The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams, build strategic partnerships across R&D, and advance capabilities in precision medicine through integrated multi-modal data insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of RWE scientists across the full evidence lifecycle.
- Define and execute neuroscience-focused RWE strategies aligned with R&D priorities.
- Build internal and external collaborations to deliver advanced insights and solutions.
- Develop scalable tools, frameworks, and best practices to strengthen data-driven culture.
- Provide thought leadership in advanced methodologies:
- Comparative effectiveness research
- External control arms
- Bayesian methods
- Advance integration of multi-modal datasets to enable precision medicine approaches.
Required Qualifications
- PhD or Master’s in:
- Epidemiology
- Biostatistics
- Outcomes Research
- Health Policy
- Related quantitative discipline
- 10+ years of experience in biopharma, healthcare, or RWE consulting.
- 7+ years of people management experience.
- Expertise in:
- Data extraction, cleaning, and analysis
- Bias/confounding mitigation methods
- Real-world data sources (EHR, claims, registries, trials, digital health)
- Strong leadership, influencing, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Programming proficiency in R, Python, or SQL.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep neuroscience expertise (neurodegenerative, neuropsychiatric, ophthalmic diseases).
- Digital health and wearable technology experience (digital biomarkers, decentralized trials).
- Multi-omics and large-scale proteomics analysis experience.
- Multi-modal data integration for patient stratification and disease modeling.
