Are you a data-driven problem solver with a passion for pets? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment? Petco is seeking a Senior Data Scientist, Pricing & Promotions to join our team and deliver impactful insights that optimize pricing strategies and promotional effectiveness.

In this role, you will play a key part in shaping business decisions by leveraging advanced analytics, statistical modeling, and customer behavior insights. You’ll collaborate across marketing, merchandising, and finance teams to help drive growth and innovation in the pet retail industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct data analysis and develop statistical models to optimize pricing and promotional strategies.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (marketing, merchandising, finance) to understand business objectives and deliver data-driven recommendations.
  • Apply data mining techniques to uncover patterns in customer behavior and purchasing habits.
  • Build and maintain predictive models to forecast sales and evaluate pricing and promotion performance.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Continuously monitor performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and recommend strategic actions.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging data science methodologies to drive innovation.
  • Lead and mentor junior data scientists to support team growth and capability development.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure data integrity and scalable data extraction processes.
  • Develop analytics-driven pricing strategies for new products and services.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in data science, statistics, economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Expertise in:
    • Statistical modeling and predictive analytics
    • Pricing optimization and promotion analysis
    • Data mining and customer analytics
  • Proficiency in tools such as Python, R, SQL, or similar technologies.
  • Experience working with large datasets and translating insights into business strategy.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
