Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud / Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate secure, scalable applications and data platforms within highly regulated environments. This role focuses on cloud-native development, data engineering, and ML pipeline operations, with a strong emphasis on security, automation, and reliability.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Python, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), infrastructure automation, and modern CI/CD practices, along with experience supporting compliance-heavy environments such as HIPAA and FedRAMP High.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure application security, performance, and scalability in regulated cloud environments.
  • Develop clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following industry best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the full application and infrastructure stack.
  • Participate in Agile development practices including sprint planning, stand-ups, and code reviews.
  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and Git-based workflows.
  • Automate cloud infrastructure using Terraform and/or AWS CDK.
  • Design, build, and operate data and ML pipelines using AWS Glue, Step Functions, Lambda, EMR, and SageMaker.
  • Develop robust AWS Glue ETL jobs using Python/PySpark with strong error handling, logging, and monitoring.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and dashboards using Amazon CloudWatch for data pipelines and ML endpoints.
  • Work with relational and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and DynamoDB, as well as data lake technologies.
  • Apply cloud security best practices such as IAM least privilege, encryption at rest/in transit, and secrets management.
  • Contribute to architecture documentation, runbooks, operational guides, and technical design reviews.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience working in Linux-based environments.
  • Expert-level Python development skills.
  • Experience building applications using Django.
  • Proficiency in AWS or Azure (experience in both is highly preferred; ability to ramp up quickly on the other is required).
  • Experience deploying and managing containerized applications (AWS ECS strongly preferred; Kubernetes is a plus).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of professional experience after formal education (internships or work-study excluded).
