JOB PURPOSE
The Senior Accountant plays an important role in the daily operations of the Business Office. This role is responsible for performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as assigned. This individual is proficient and effective in business and accounting procedures and works well with staff and parents.
This is a full-time, 12-month position immediately available. The start date can be flexible.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Reviews and processes posting of cash receipt activity including cash, checks, and credit card payments
• Performs routine and complex accounting reconciliations requiring knowledge of systems, independent judgment and ability to respond accordingly
• During the yearly financial audit, prepares tie out schedules to support accounting balances and fulfills other requests by auditors for sampling or supporting documentation
• Monthly reconciliations of various general ledger accounts including cash, receivables, payables and other balance sheet accounts
• Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum Bachelor degree is required, in Accounting, Business or Finance. CPA preferred
• 3+ years accounting experience in non-for-profit area or the financial services industry preferred
• Experience with automated accounting systems
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Positive attitude as a “can do” oriented team player
• Ability to deal sensitively with confidential information with high degree of professionalism
