The position of Crewperson 3 – Food Delivery Driver at USD 259 entails a vital role within the Food Production Warehouse and Delivery team. This individual is responsible for delivering food, groceries, and necessary supplies such as paper products along assigned delivery routes throughout the district. Ensuring that all deliveries are made in a professional, safe, and sanitary manner is paramount. This role requires constant travel between schools, central offices, and other district buildings, adhering to safety regulations and Department of Transportation laws for vehicles weighing over 26,000 pounds. The Crewperson 3 will support the food production operations by assisting with loading and unloading trucks, managing temperature-controlled carriers, and coordinating delivery schedules.
The job demands working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, including extremes of heat, cold, rain, and snow, and the physical ability to perform tasks such as climbing, reaching, standing, and handling equipment. Use of technology, including iPads and office equipment like computers and scanners, is required for managing delivery records and communication. This position demands excellent organizational skills, independent judgment, and the ability to handle changing priorities while maintaining composure. The Crewperson 3 must show a high level of professionalism and discretion when interacting with personnel across the district, vendors, and community members.
The role includes preventative maintenance on delivery trucks, such as checking oil, tires, and lifts, keeping vehicles clean inside and out, and promptly reporting any malfunctions. In addition to routine route deliveries, this position may involve special tasks such as catering deliveries, hot shot call-backs, and participation in seasonal programs like the Summer Nutrition Program. The individual will work under the direct supervision of the Food Production Warehouse and Delivery Supervisor and collaborate closely with a diverse team to meet daily operational objectives. This is a non-exempt position, and adherence to scheduled work hours along with attendance at mandatory meetings is required. A valid Kansas driver’s license is mandatory to ensure safe and legal vehicle operation.
