Role Overview
The IT Specialist (Applications Development) designs, develops, and maintains internet and intranet applications while leading development teams through the full application lifecycle. This position establishes development priorities, coordinates requirements and schedules, and ensures successful delivery of user-focused information solutions across multiple environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of developers throughout the application development lifecycle.
- Design, develop, and maintain internet and intranet applications, ensuring functionality, security, and performance.
- Create user interfaces for web-based applications that are intuitive and accessible.
- Establish feature priorities, development expectations, and select design methodologies, frameworks, and tools.
- Write, test, and deploy code using appropriate programming languages and development frameworks.
- Design and conduct system and application testing to validate functionality and performance.
- Coordinate development schedules, requirements, and activities across multiple teams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve development and production issues across platforms.
- Develop technical documentation and user assistance tools for end-users.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, best practices, and security protocols.
- Participate in team meetings and provide leadership guidance.
Required Qualifications
- Approximately 4+ years of experience in applications development or a related technical field.
- Proven experience leading or directing development teams.
- Proficiency in web-based programming languages and frameworks.
- Experience in application design, development, and testing.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry certifications in relevant technologies.
- Familiarity with government contracting standards and security compliance.
- Experience working in a highly regulated or mission-critical environment.
