About the Role

Jacobs is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to support the design and delivery of mission-critical facilities, including advanced data centers and industrial infrastructure projects.

In this role, you will work within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team to design and optimize control systems that enable critical client operations. You’ll contribute to engineering excellence across the full project lifecycle — from concept development through commissioning and startup support.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Design

  • Design instrumentation and control systems for industrial and commercial facilities, including data centers
  • Develop P&IDs, control narratives, and system architecture documentation
  • Size control valves and specify instrumentation components
  • Model and document design information using engineering software tools
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, standards, and client requirements

Project Execution

  • Manage technical scope, schedule, and quality of assigned engineering tasks
  • Coordinate with discipline leads and cross-functional project teams
  • Support project startup, commissioning, and onsite troubleshooting activities
  • Assist with scope definition, budgeting, and client coordination

Collaboration & Innovation

  • Work closely with architects, engineers, and designers to deliver integrated facility solutions
  • Develop optimization strategies for process control and automation systems
  • Contribute innovative ideas to improve system performance and efficiency

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Control Systems Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 6 years of Instrumentation & Controls experience
  • Working knowledge of:
    • PLC systems
    • DCS platforms
    • Industrial control applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
  • Experience with data center design or mission-critical facilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading small teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion for buildings, infrastructure, and engineering innovation
