💼 Job Summary

UCSC is seeking a Frontend Developer to design, build, and maintain web-based applications for the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium. This role involves implementing complex front-end software solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring accessibility, scalability, and high performance. The position is fully remote but requires adherence to UCSC telecommuting guidelines and occasional travel (up to 25%).

🛠 Key Responsibilities

85% – Software Development

  • Plan, design, develop, debug, deploy, and evaluate front-end software for functional areas.
  • Analyze existing applications and formulate logic for new web-based systems.
  • Develop and execute Quality Assurance (QA) test plans.
  • Perform performance and integration testing.
  • Build interfaces for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain source code control and configuration management.
  • Draft and update technical documentation.
  • Resolve errors, alerts, and inquiries from other departments.

15% – Process Improvements

  • Gather and analyze recommendations for front-end programming standards.
  • Implement changes in development, maintenance, and system standards.
  • Negotiate with stakeholders on software specifications.

✅ Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency with Angular, TypeScript, CSS.
  • Experience with OAuth2/OpenID, SAML, AD, SSO, Amazon RDS, RedShift, Thymeleaf, and AWS tasks.
  • Knowledge of secure software development practices.
  • Strong communication, customer service orientation, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to apply Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) in front-end design.
  • Experience advising, troubleshooting, and implementing user interface design.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

🌟 Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Git, command-line tools, unit testing, and Agile workflows.
  • Certified ScrumMaster.

💰 Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: $88,830 – $95,250/year (budgeted)
