Job Description
Career Legal is partnering with a highly respected, full-service law firm in Philadelphia to hire an experienced Family Law Paralegal. The successful candidate will support attorneys on complex family law cases, including divorce and custody, while managing case files and ensuring compliance with court requirements.
Responsibilities
• Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, affidavits, subpoenas, and settlement agreements for family law cases.
• Organize and maintain case files, calendars, and deadlines to ensure smooth case management and compliance with court requirements.
• Gather and analyze financial documents, prepare support and asset distribution spreadsheets, and assist with disclosures and trial preparation.
• Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and experts, providing professional and timely communication under attorney supervision.
• Coordinate depositions, hearings, mediations, and other case-related meetings or events.
• Conduct factual and limited legal research to support ongoing matters.
• Prepare and submit e-filings and monitor dockets for updates, motions, and court notices.
• Assist with preparation of trial exhibits, witness lists, and binders for hearings and trials.
• Uphold strict confidentiality standards and demonstrate compassion when dealing with sensitive personal matters.
Skills
• Minimum 3–5 years of family law paralegal experience (divorce, custody, support, and equitable distribution work preferred).
• Strong drafting, organizational, and multitasking abilities; able to manage numerous cases simultaneously.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, legal document management, and e-filing systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a client-focused approach.
• High attention to detail and ability to work independently within a team environment.
• Uphold strict confidentiality standards and demonstrate compassion when dealing with sensitive personal matters.
• Paralegal certification preferred but not essential.
• Prior experience with Pennsylvania family law procedures is strongly preferred.
