Job Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Data Center Technician to support server and network infrastructure deployment and maintenance in a data center environment. The role involves installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining servers and switches while working closely with network administrators to ensure reliable and standards-compliant operations.

Key Responsibilities

Data Center Installation & Deployment

  • Move servers and network switches to designated installation locations.
  • Unbox, inspect, and prepare hardware prior to deployment.
  • Perform smoke testing to validate server functionality.
  • Rack, stack, and cable servers and switches according to wire maps and standards.
  • Ensure cabling is properly bundled, labeled, and compliant with organizational practices.
  • Temporarily rack and cable equipment to allow remote network configuration.

Hardware Configuration & Maintenance

  • Install and replace components such as NICs, memory, drives, and optics.
  • Configure IP addresses and default login credentials.
  • Perform firmware updates to approved versions.
  • Conduct inventory audits for servers, components, and consumables.

Troubleshooting & Break/Fix Support

  • Diagnose hardware issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Replace defective components and coordinate RMA processes with vendors.
  • Order replacement parts and manage return shipments.
  • Support network teams by:
    • Replacing damaged cables
    • Re-routing connections
    • Upgrading optics or hardware components

Collaboration & Operations

  • Work closely with network administrators to validate connectivity and readiness.
  • Provide on-demand support for servers and switches.
  • Ensure all systems are operational before handoff.

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in data center environments supporting servers and networking hardware.
  • Strong understanding of server components (CPU, RAM, storage, NICs).
  • Experience with rack & stack, structured cabling, and cable management.
  • Proven troubleshooting and repair skills for server hardware.
  • Familiarity with firmware upgrades and basic server configuration.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with infrastructure teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in enterprise or hyperscale data centers.
  • Exposure to high-performance computing environments or OEM hardware standards.
  • Basic networking knowledge (server-to-switch connectivity).
  • Experience with inventory audits and asset management.

Work Environment

  • Physical work including lifting, racking, and cabling equipment.
  • On-site data center environment.
  • Fast-paced operations supporting critical infrastructure.
