Compensation: $60–$62 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Overview

Our client is seeking a skilled Datacenter Engineer to support, maintain, and optimize physical data center infrastructure. This role plays a critical part in ensuring operational reliability, efficiency, and security across data center environments, with a strong focus on power management, structured cabling, and hardware lifecycle management.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure initiatives and mission-critical IT operations.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Management

  • Maintain and support physical data center infrastructure, including racks, PDUs, and IDF closets
  • Configure and manage APC power devices using StruxureWare
  • Support configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Cisco UCS hardware
  • Manage hardware inventory, asset tracking, and documentation

Cabling & Network Support

  • Oversee structured cabling installation, organization, and labeling standards
  • Manage network device backups and configurations using BackBox or similar tools
  • Partner with network teams to troubleshoot connectivity and infrastructure issues

Operations & Optimization

  • Conduct routine data center audits and inspections
  • Support data center upgrades, migrations, relocations, and decommissioning projects
  • Maintain accurate documentation, diagrams, and procedures using Visio and other tools
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data center engineering or physical infrastructure roles
  • Hands-on experience with racks, power systems, cabling, and hardware deployment
  • Working knowledge of APC or Raritan power management solutions
  • Experience with structured cabling and IDF closet management
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals and virtualization environments (e.g., VMware)
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and inventory management skills
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Visio

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA
  • Experience with Cisco UCS platforms
  • Familiarity with configuration backup tools such as BackBox
