What Success Looks Like in This Role

As a Data Center Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining critical IT infrastructure within the data center environment, ensuring system reliability, and supporting uninterrupted network services. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with server hardware, network infrastructure, and data center operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and configure data center infrastructure, including servers, racks, switches, and related hardware.
  • Monitor system performance, identify issues, and perform troubleshooting to maintain uptime.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and updates across systems, software, and hardware components.
  • Ensure HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems operate efficiently within the data center.
  • Perform network administration tasks such as user account management, permissions, email systems, antivirus, and anti-spam controls.
  • Maintain reliable power supply operations and oversee backup systems.
  • Verify data backup completion and proper storage procedures.
  • Assist with disaster recovery operations during power outages, fire incidents, or other emergencies.
  • Document procedures, configurations, and system changes accurately.
  • Maintain compliance with data center security and operational standards.
  • Communicate regularly with IT teams and leadership regarding data center status and incidents.

Hardware Support Responsibilities

Technicians will provide troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and installation support for Dell Technologies products at the customer site:

  • Perform issue triage with guidance from Dell Support teams.
  • Execute action plans from Domain Engineers or Level 3 support.
  • Document results, logs, and service reports (including part numbers and replacement details).
  • Reseat, swap, or replace hardware components as required.
  • Conduct server diagnostics, testing, and validation procedures.
  • Perform firmware upgrades when necessary.
  • Manage parts inventory, including inbound/outbound logistics and spare parts tracking during deployments.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical certification or Associate Degree preferred.
  • Typically 2–4+ years of relevant technical experience in data center or IT infrastructure support.

Additional Requirements

This role may involve access to export-controlled technology. Candidates must be eligible for any required U.S. Government authorizations in compliance with export regulations.
