About the Role
CBRE is seeking a Data Center Technician to support mission-critical operations by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective repairs within a data center environment.
This role is part of the Critical & Technical Services function, responsible for maintaining mechanical, electrical, and facility systems in high-availability client environments. The position requires strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, and the ability to work within defined procedures under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Operations & Maintenance
- Conduct daily inspections of mechanical, electrical, and engineering systems
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive maintenance on equipment
- Monitor environmental conditions to ensure a safe and compliant work environment
- Respond to Building Management System (BMS) alarms and complete emergency repairs
Equipment Monitoring & Troubleshooting
- Perform building walkthroughs and record readings from UPS, PDUs, and utilities
- Identify and resolve plant and facility faults and defects
- Respond to HVAC-related issues and client requests
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and quality records
Vendor & Compliance Coordination
- Work with third-party vendors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with procedures and regulations
- Report performance concerns to management when service levels are not met
- Follow all company safety policies and regulatory standards
Operational Support
- Complete assigned tasks according to established procedures
- Participate in required technical training programs
- Deliver work outputs under supervision with clearly defined processes
Required Qualifications
- Technical training, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in mechanical or electrical disciplines
- 1–2 years of relevant experience in facilities maintenance or data center environments
- Ability to work shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Physical capability to meet job demands
Preferred Skills & Competencies
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, or mechanical systems
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Basic math and analytical ability
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
