Work Type: Hybrid (80% Mac Hardware Ops | 20% Network Support)

Role Overview

The Data Center Technician I will support Mac-based compute infrastructure within a data center environment. This role primarily focuses on Apple hardware deployment and maintenance, with additional responsibilities in network operations support.

The position is ideal for professionals with hands-on experience in:

  • Data center hardware
  • Apple Mac systems at scale
  • Basic networking and switching environments

Key Responsibilities

Primary: Mac / Server Infrastructure (80%)

  • Deploy, rack, cable, and maintain Apple hardware (Mac Studio, Mac Pro, Mac Mini).
  • Troubleshoot hardware and basic OS issues.
  • Perform imaging, configuration, firmware updates, and lifecycle management.
  • Monitor system health and respond to incidents to maintain uptime SLAs.
  • Maintain asset tracking, labeling, and documentation.
  • Support engineering teams with CI/CD pipelines and production workloads.
  • Manage iLO administration for client and Dell systems.

Secondary: Data Center & Networking Support (20%)

  • Install and troubleshoot network switches (Arista, Juniper).
  • Perform fiber and copper cabling, patching, tracing, and labeling.
  • Assist with VLAN configuration, port provisioning, and Layer-2 troubleshooting.
  • Support connectivity for compute hardware, PDUs, and KVM systems.
  • Ensure compliance with airflow, power distribution, and rack standards.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of data center operations or hardware support experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Mac hardware in production or lab environments.
  • Strong knowledge of racking, cabling, and data center best practices.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals and switching.
  • Experience with ticketing systems and asset tracking tools.
  • Ability to lift equipment up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with Jamf or Mac automation tools.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, and link aggregation.
  • Experience with remote management tools (iDRAC, IPMI, Lights-Out).
  • Basic scripting (Python/Bash) or OS imaging experience.
  • Experience supporting build farms or developer infrastructure.
  • Awareness of Agile practices and ServiceNow/Wolken ticketing systems.
