About the Role

NTT DATA is seeking a skilled Data Center Mechanical Engineer to join its facilities operations team in Mahwah, New Jersey. This role is responsible for leading mechanical maintenance operations, supporting critical infrastructure systems, and ensuring facility performance aligns with company safety and quality standards.

The successful candidate will provide leadership to the Facility Mechanical Department, oversee HVAC and mechanical systems, and coordinate maintenance activities to achieve operational excellence in a mission-critical environment.

This is a full-time, on-site role at a client location. Only local candidates will be considered.

Key Responsibilities

Facility Operations & Maintenance

  • Oversee maintenance operations, plant facilities, and mechanical tooling systems
  • Coordinate mechanical and electrical maintenance activities within assigned areas
  • Ensure compliance with company quality and safety standards
  • Support staffing, training, and development of maintenance personnel

Mechanical Systems Management

  • Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC, refrigeration, and cooling systems
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and mechanical blueprints
  • Support both new and legacy equipment servicing requirements
  • Monitor system performance and implement improvements

Leadership & Compliance

  • Promote operational best practices and facility standards
  • Administer departmental activities and production goals
  • Ensure compliance with local codes and safety regulations
  • Manage conflict resolution and team coordination when necessary

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years experience in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical experience
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Commercial HVAC experience (centrifugal systems preferred)
  • Knowledge of HVACR controls and sequence of operations
  • Familiarity with plumbing systems (preferred)
  • Universal EPA Certification
  • Ability to read manuals, schematics, and control circuits
  • Strong problem-solving and technical aptitude

Technical Skills

  • HVAC and refrigeration systems expertise
  • Mechanical drawings and blueprint interpretation
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Knowledge of local building and safety codes
