Role Overview
As a Data Center Facility Manager, you will lead the operations and maintenance of critical infrastructure within highly advanced data center environments. You’ll manage 24×7 technical teams, ensure maximum uptime and reliability, and drive operational excellence across power, cooling, and building systems while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of critical physical infrastructure to ensure high availability and SLA compliance.
- Lead and manage on-site technicians, vendors, and subcontractors across 24×7 operations.
- Foster a strong safety, security, and compliance culture within the facility.
- Hire, coach, mentor, and develop team members, managing performance and career growth.
- Manage operational budgets, expenditures, and cost-optimization initiatives.
- Act as the escalation point for facility-related issues and incident management.
- Oversee operation and maintenance of mission-critical systems, including:
- Switchgear and power distribution systems
- Generators and UPS systems
- Chillers, cooling towers, CRAC/CRAH units
- Building Monitoring / BMS systems
- Drive continuous improvement projects from planning through execution.
- Support new facility builds, expansions, and efficiency enhancement projects.
- Perform root cause analysis and problem resolution for infrastructure incidents.
- Respond to after-hours emergencies when required and potentially support multiple sites.
A Day in the Life
You will serve as both a technical leader and operational manager, ensuring reliability targets are achieved while guiding teams through maintenance, incident response, and improvement initiatives. Collaboration with engineering, supply chain, security, and operations teams is central to delivering world-class data center performance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong experience with mission-critical facility infrastructure (electrical and mechanical systems).
- Leadership experience managing technical teams in 24×7 environments.
- Knowledge of data center reliability, safety standards, and operational best practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and decision-making skills.
- Budget management and vendor coordination experience.
- Proficiency with standard business tools (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in hyperscale or large enterprise data centers.
- Background supporting new builds or major infrastructure upgrades.
- Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
