Job Description
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is hiring a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician to support the operation, maintenance, and reliability of mission-critical infrastructure within its global data center network. This is a hands-on technical role focused on electrical, mechanical, and facility systems that keep cloud services running 24/7.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily facility rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems.
- Monitor and operate Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management Systems (EPMS).
- Troubleshoot facility and rack-level incidents within SLA requirements.
- Install and decommission server racks.
- Conduct preventive maintenance (PM), repairs, and root cause analysis on critical infrastructure equipment.
- Provide technical documentation to support change management processes.
- Coordinate and oversee contractors and vendors onsite.
- Execute small projects from planning through completion.
- Support multiple data center sites if required.

- CRAH/CRAC units
- Chillers and cooling towers

- Air handling and water systems
Other Infrastructure
- Fire detection and suppression systems
- Building automation systems
- General facility equipment
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 39 lbs independently and participate in team lifts over 40 lbs.
- Work at heights (ladders), climb stairs, bend, crawl, and move equipment.
- Work in environments requiring hearing protection.
- Shifts may be 12 hours with rotations, including on-call schedules depending on site needs.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical training (trade school/military) or 2+ years of experience in:
- Electrical
- Mechanical
- HVAC
- Fire systems
- Mission-critical infrastructure
- 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Office tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years of data center engineering experience.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Compensation
- Location: Hermiston, Oregon (USA)
- Pay Range: $37.00 – $65.00 per hour
- Additional compensation may include:
