Job Description

RYZ Labs is seeking a skilled Data Center Electrical Engineer to design, operate, and maintain critical electrical infrastructure that ensures high availability and resilient uptime across mission-critical environments. This role is ideal for professionals with strong hands-on experience in power systems, reliability engineering, and data center operations, with participation in an on-call rotation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, operate, and maintain medium- and low-voltage (MV/LV) power distribution systems, including switchgear, UPS, PDUs, ATS/STS, grounding, and bonding.
  • Manage power reliability through capacity planning, load balancing, redundancy architectures (N, N+1, 2N), and power quality analysis.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Plan and execute preventive maintenance, testing, and commissioning activities (IR thermography, breaker testing, battery testing).
  • Develop and maintain single-line diagrams, as-built drawings, SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs, ensuring compliance with NEC, NFPA 70/70E, and OSHA standards.
  • Coordinate vendors and contractors while delivering infrastructure upgrades and lifecycle projects with minimal downtime.
  • Monitor systems through BMS, SCADA, and DCIM platforms, tracking KPIs, risks, and operational performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with data center or critical facility electrical systems.
  • Hands-on expertise with UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, ATS/STS, and battery systems.
  • Experience using ETAP or SKM for short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70/70E, IEEE standards, and commissioning practices.
  • Proven troubleshooting, documentation, and vendor management skills.
  • Ability to support after-hours work and on-call rotations.

Preferred Certifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • NFPA 70E certification.
  • CDCDP / CDCEP or similar data center credentials.
