💼 Job Summary
Walmart is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Java Backend to design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices that power its vast product catalog and related services.
You will work on distributed, event-driven systems and collaborate with cross-functional teams to build resilient, high-performance backend services.
🚀 Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend services and APIs using Java and Spring
- Build distributed, event-driven systems using Apache Kafka
- Develop scalable microservices architecture
- Optimize streaming data pipelines (Kafka, potentially Spark)
- Perform performance tuning and troubleshooting of distributed systems
- Ensure high code quality through testing, CI/CD, and code reviews
- Deploy and manage services using Kubernetes
- Use GitHub workflows for source control and automation
🛠 Must-Have Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in Java (8+)
- Deep experience with Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC)
- Experience with Apache Kafka
- Hands-on experience with Cassandra or other NoSQL databases
- Solid understanding of Microservices Architecture
- Experience building RESTful APIs
- CI/CD pipeline experience
- Familiarity with Kubernetes
⭐ Good to Have
- Experience with Apache Spark
- Performance tuning in distributed systems
- Additional NoSQL database experience
- Cloud platform experience (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Knowledge of Hibernate & SOAP services
🎓 Minimum Qualifications
Option 1:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 3+ years of software engineering experience
OR
Option 2:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
🎓 Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- Experience implementing WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards
- Knowledge of assistive technologies
- Experience creating inclusive digital experiences
💰 Compensation
- Annual Salary Range: $117,000 – $234,000
- Performance-based annual or quarterly bonuses
- Additional compensation may include stock grants
