💼 Job Summary

Walmart is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Java Backend to design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices that power its vast product catalog and related services.

You will work on distributed, event-driven systems and collaborate with cross-functional teams to build resilient, high-performance backend services.

🚀 Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement backend services and APIs using Java and Spring
  • Build distributed, event-driven systems using Apache Kafka
  • Develop scalable microservices architecture
  • Optimize streaming data pipelines (Kafka, potentially Spark)
  • Perform performance tuning and troubleshooting of distributed systems
  • Ensure high code quality through testing, CI/CD, and code reviews
  • Deploy and manage services using Kubernetes
  • Use GitHub workflows for source control and automation

🛠 Must-Have Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Java (8+)
  • Deep experience with Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC)
  • Experience with Apache Kafka
  • Hands-on experience with Cassandra or other NoSQL databases
  • Solid understanding of Microservices Architecture
  • Experience building RESTful APIs
  • CI/CD pipeline experience
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes

⭐ Good to Have

  • Experience with Apache Spark
  • Performance tuning in distributed systems
  • Additional NoSQL database experience
  • Cloud platform experience (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Knowledge of Hibernate & SOAP services

🎓 Minimum Qualifications

Option 1:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 3+ years of software engineering experience

OR

Option 2:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience

🎓 Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience implementing WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies
  • Experience creating inclusive digital experiences

💰 Compensation

  • Annual Salary Range: $117,000 – $234,000
  • Performance-based annual or quarterly bonuses
  • Additional compensation may include stock grants
