This is a front-end focused freelance role with both technical and creative responsibilities, maintaining brand cohesion, UX excellence, and SEO performance for the Whitaker House website.

📌 Key Responsibilities

  • Frontend Development: Implement web content and functionality using CSS, HTML, SCSS, PHP, JavaScript, NPM, and Gutenberg.
  • Design Integration: Balance form and function to ensure visually appealing, responsive, and user-friendly web pages.
  • Analytics & Tracking: Manage Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, UTM tracking, and pixel integrations.
  • SEO & Performance: Optimize websites to adhere to Google Core Web Vitals and accessibility compliance standards.
  • Project Management: Self-manage tickets and larger projects for timely completion; create landing pages, navigation updates, and original design elements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Arts and Marketing teams to execute user-centric design aligned with brand standards.

🛠️ Required Technical Skills

  • Frontend Languages & Tools: CSS, HTML, SCSS, JavaScript, PHP, NPM, Gutenberg
  • SEO & Analytics: Yoast plugins, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, pixel integrations
  • Performance Optimization: Core Web Vitals, responsive design, cross-browser compatibility
  • UX & Brand Awareness: Ability to execute visually cohesive, accessible, and user-friendly designs

  • Portfolio of web development, programming, and design projects
  • Understanding of user experience across multiple audiences (authors, readers, media)
  • Experience maintaining SEO visibility and digital brand presence
  • Self-starter capable of managing multiple web requests and projects independently

🎯 Performance Objectives
