Position: Online Course Developer – RHIN XXX Health Data Architecture and Interoperability
Location: Remote (U.S.-based only)

Compensation: $3,000 (~65 hours over 12 weeks)
About the Role
Brandeis University’s Rabb School of Continuing Studies seeks an experienced Online Course Developer to design and build a 3-credit asynchronous graduate-level course on Health Data Architecture and Interoperability.
This course focuses on FHIR and HL7 standards, resource and profile design, API patterns, data modeling, and conformance testing to enable interoperability between healthcare systems. Learners will engage in hands-on exercises and develop applied skills to support an interconnected health ecosystem.
The developer will ensure the course aligns with institutional learning outcomes, accreditation standards, and workforce relevance, while adhering to Brandeis Online’s instructional design standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop a Brandeis-compliant syllabus and instructor materials based on current industry knowledge.
- Create learning objects, assignments, and assessments aligned to course and program outcomes.
- Design and implement pedagogical strategies for asynchronous online learning.
- Collaborate with Brandeis Online staff throughout the development process.
- Ensure technical requirements for LMS integration are met.
- Submit course drafts at designated intervals and incorporate feedback from Learning Designers.
- Uphold Brandeis University’s academic standards and online course development guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in healthcare IT and interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, EHR systems).
- Professional experience with APIs, data mapping, and secure communication protocols.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, interoperability rules).
- At least 1 year of teaching or training experience, preferably online/asynchronous.
- Minimum 1 year developing asynchronous online courses for adult learners in higher education.
- Proficiency with LMS platforms and digital authoring tools.
- Strong communication, organization, and independent work skills.
- Familiarity with curriculum design, accreditation standards, and graduate-level rigor.
- Ability to translate interdisciplinary content into engaging, accessible learning pathways.
- Strong writing and editing skills to produce learner-centered content.
Preferred Experience
- Graduate-level online course development or teaching experience.
- Understanding of global learner personas and culturally responsive pedagogy.
- Familiarity with Moodle LMS and digital authoring tools (e.g., H5P).
- Experience with experiential learning models and employer-aligned curriculum.
