WordPress Developer Needed to Fix Critical CSS and Google Rendering Issues

Job Description:

We are hiring an experienced WordPress developer with strong technical SEO understanding to fix critical sitewide CSS and Google rendering issues that are impacting indexing and rankings.

This project has already been audited. Tasks must be completed in the priority order listed below.


Project Scope and Priority Tasks

1. Fix Broken CSS Files (Highest Priority)

Identify and fix CSS files returning 404 errors across the site.

Replace outdated CDN references, including an old Slick slider CSS version.

Use updated or self hosted CSS files.

Ensure all CSS resources return HTTP 200.

Success criteria:

All CSS files load correctly and pages render properly.


2. Resolve Google Rendering Issues

Fix pages showing rendered page as false in Google tools.

Ensure CSS and JavaScript files are accessible and not blocked.

Validate using Google Search Console URL Inspection.

Success criteria:

Rendered page status is true with no resource loading errors.

3. Identify and Fix Slick Slider Source

Identify which plugin or theme is loading the outdated Slick CSS.

Update the plugin or theme, or properly dequeue and re enqueue the correct CSS.

Ensure the fix applies sitewide.

Success criteria:

No outdated Slick CSS references remain.

4. Theme and Plugin CSS Cleanup

Audit theme and plugins for unused or hardcoded CSS files.

Remove unnecessary CSS references and optimize asset loading.

5. Cache and Asset Optimization

Clear and rebuild all site caches.

Ensure optimization or caching plugins are not rewriting asset URLs incorrectly.

6. Performance and Core Web Vitals Improvements (Most Complex Task)

Improve page performance metrics including LCP, CLS, and INP.

Reduce render blocking CSS and improve mobile performance.

Requirements

Proven WordPress development experience

Strong understanding of CSS and JavaScript asset loading

Experience with themes, plugins, and page builders

Familiarity with Google Search Console and SEO rendering issues

Ability to document changes clearly
