Role Overview

Are you passionate about building cutting-edge software for the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry powered by Generative AI? The AWS Data Center Design Engineering – BIM Technology team is seeking a Senior BIM Software Development Engineer to drive innovation in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and AI-enabled solutions that transform how global data centers are designed, built, and operated.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical lead on complex, cross-functional engineering initiatives.
  • Translate business and functional requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions.
  • Define and influence technical architecture, engineering standards, and best practices.
  • Design and develop BIM-powered products and GenAI-enabled tools supporting data center design, construction, and operations.
  • Evaluate and integrate third-party technologies and APIs (e.g., BIM platforms and cloud services).
  • Collaborate closely with data center engineers, BIM specialists, and stakeholders to implement end-to-end solutions using machine learning and AI techniques.
  • Maintain high security and operational excellence standards when shipping new software.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to long-term roadmap planning and strategy.
  • Participate in engineering communities, hackathons, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS’s global infrastructure. The team supports thousands of data centers worldwide, ensuring reliable access to cloud services across servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling systems.

You will join a diverse group of software engineers, infrastructure specialists, supply chain experts, and operations leaders working together to deliver highly secure and scalable infrastructure solutions.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional (non-internship) software development experience.
  • 7+ years programming experience in at least one modern programming language.
  • 7+ years experience leading system design or architecture for scalable distributed systems.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Experience across the full software development lifecycle (coding standards, testing, CI/CD, operations).
  • Experience developing custom BIM software and integrations with platforms such as Autodesk APIs.
  • Experience building and deploying applications on AWS cloud infrastructure.

Compensation

Base salary range: $151,300 – $261,500 per year (varies by geographic market, experience, and qualifications).
Total compensation may include equity, sign-on bonuses, and comprehensive benefits.
