🌱 About the Role
Amazon is seeking an experienced Solar Construction Manager to lead rooftop photovoltaic (PV) system installations, microgrid resiliency projects, and sustainability initiatives across North America.
This role plays a critical part in achieving Amazon’s Climate Pledge goals, combining:
- Construction Engineering
- Renewable Energy Project Management
- Facilities & Contract Management
- Solar & Sustainability Infrastructure Development
You will manage projects from site selection through design, construction, activation, and operational turnover, acting as Amazon’s primary representative with developers, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
⚡ Renewable Energy Project Management
- Lead construction of rooftop solar PV systems and sustainability projects
- Manage activation and integration into local utility grids
- Oversee projects ranging from renovations to $100M+ new builds
📊 Budget & Schedule Oversight
- Conduct deep-dive reviews of budgets and contractor bids
- Track forecasting, cost controls, and change orders
- Monitor KPIs for safety, quality, cost, schedule, and sustainability
🤝 Stakeholder & Contractor Management
- Act as Amazon’s direct interface with:
- Developers
- General Contractors
- Utility Providers
- Regulatory Bodies (AHJ)
- Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs)
- Audit contractor performance and workforce competency
🏗 Engineering & Design Review
- Provide technical guidance on:
- AutoCAD
- Building layouts
- Design specifications
- Materials & schedules
- Identify value engineering opportunities
- Resolve design clashes and scheduling conflicts
📈 Operational Integration
- Support transition to operations teams
- Ensure complete turnover documentation
- Establish systems for contract scheduling and tracking
🛠 Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 7+ years of:
- Project Management
- Real Estate Development
- Architecture / Design Experience
- 7+ years experience in:
- Solar Energy Planning
- Renewable Energy Construction
- PV System Deployment
⭐ Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years experience managing or developing commercial Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs)
