About the Role
Join the Amazon Speech team, designing and developing core speech recognition technology used in Amazon Echo, the Amazon mobile shopping app, and other innovative products. As a Software Engineer, you will work alongside software engineers and machine learning scientists to develop and deploy machine learning models to millions of devices worldwide.
You will play a pivotal role in creating reliable, scalable, high-performance systems that form the foundation of Amazon’s voice-enabled experiences. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on products used daily by millions of customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain key system features and components.
- Investigate design approaches, prototype new technologies, and evaluate technical feasibility.
- Work within an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high-quality software against aggressive schedules.
- Establish architectural principles, select design patterns, and mentor team members on best practices.
Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship).
- 2+ years experience developing machine learning platforms for scientific experimentation.
- Proficient in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design.
- 1+ year of experience contributing to architecture and design of new and existing systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge and experience in Machine Learning.
- Excellent technical communication skills with both peers and non-technical teams.
- Sharp analytical skills and proven system design abilities.
- Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
- Leadership experience in engineering environments, driving operational excellence and best practices.
