Job Description

📍 Location: Bellevue, WA
💼 Employment Type: Full-Time
💰 Salary Range: $143,700 – $194,400 annually

🔹 About the Role

Join Amazon’s Last Mile Delivery Automation Team and help build the cloud infrastructure that powers connected delivery vehicles! Our Cloud Services & Operations Apps team is pioneering automated delivery solutions for Amazon Logistics (AMZL).

You’ll create critical backend systems that enable safe, scalable, automated delivery operations—from semantic mapping pipelines to real-time fleet telemetry, ODD (Operational Design Domain) management platforms, and ML training infrastructure.

This is a greenfield development opportunity: design, build, and own systems that process TB-scale sensor data, coordinate multi-vehicle data collection, and power ML pipelines that train perception models—all while maintaining Amazon’s highest standards of safety and reliability.

🌟 What Makes This Role Exciting

  • Build Critical Infrastructure: Cloud systems supporting connected delivery vehicles, mapping pipelines, telemetry platforms, and fleet coordination services.
  • ML + Systems Integration: Transform perception model outputs into lane-level semantic maps using advanced fusion algorithms.
  • Real-World Scale: Process sensor data from hundreds of vehicles and distribute map updates fleet-wide.
  • End-to-End Ownership: Take ownership from data ingestion to visualization, offline batch processing to real-time streaming.
  • Greenfield Development: Architect new systems from the ground up—mapping storage, data labeling platforms, visualization tools, and ML training infrastructure.

💼 Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build data pipelines for ingesting and processing multi-modal sensor data from connected fleets.
  • Develop mapping systems that fuse perception outputs into lane-level semantic maps with spatial indexing and version control.
  • Build real-time telemetry platforms and dashboards for fleet monitoring and system health.
  • Create operational tools to provide engineers and operators visibility into vehicle performance and data quality.
  • Collaborate with ML teams to build training infrastructure, data labeling platforms, and model deployment pipelines.
  • Own services end-to-end: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operations.
  • Contribute to technical design discussions and architecture decisions for greenfield systems.

🔹 Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in system design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, scaling).
  • Experience programming with at least one modern programming language.

🔹 Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Experience with highly available distributed systems, large-scale data extraction, ingestion, and processing.
  • Familiarity with geospatial data, mapping systems, or location-based services.
  • Experience with ML infrastructure: training pipelines, model serving, and data labeling platforms.
  • Knowledge of sensor data processing: camera, LiDAR, telemetry.
  • Experience across the full software development lifecycle: coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
