The Playback Insights team is responsible for telemetry and analytics for Prime Video, collecting trillions of events per day from end-user devices worldwide. We process this data in real time, powering internal teams with insights for performance optimization, personalization, and engagement.
Our mission includes scaling systems to handle exabyte-scale data lakes, creating intuitive web interfaces to explore performance metrics, and using machine learning models to guide improvements across the Prime Video platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain high-performance, low-latency data pipelines and backend services.
- Contribute to system architecture, design patterns, and scaling strategies for large-scale streaming and telemetry systems.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop KPIs and metrics that improve Prime Video performance and user experience.
- Leverage big data technologies to process, analyze, and surface insights from massive datasets.
- Participate in software development best practices, including code reviews, testing, and deployment.
- Innovate with machine learning and automation to streamline data exploration and reporting.
Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship).
- 1+ year contributing to system design or architecture, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Programming experience with at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C++, or similar).
- 12+ months removed from BS or MS graduation.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative, and high-impact environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with streaming video systems, telemetry, or big data pipelines.
- Familiarity with exabyte-scale data lakes and real-time data processing.
- Exposure to machine learning models for analytics or recommendation systems.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
