Location: Remote – US & Canada
Salary: $95,000 – $177,000 USD per year + discretionary bonus
Remote: Fully remote

Role Overview

The Senior Software Engineer will design and develop applications to support game operations, building both backend APIs and frontend components. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to improve scalability, reliability, and user experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build backend APIs and frontend pages/components using Node.js, Next.js, and modern JS frameworks (React, Hooks)
  • Design scalable features and participate in brainstorming and feature documentation
  • Manage relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB)
  • Collaborate across departments to identify problems and implement solutions
  • Support operational tools that enable live game operations
  • Contribute to company culture, vision, and team collaboration

Required Skills

Software Development

  • 4+ years of professional programming experience
  • Strong Node.js experience for building REST APIs
  • Frontend development using React, Next.js, and Hooks
  • TypeScript package development
  • SQL and NoSQL database design and querying (PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB)
  • Experience with Git version control
  • Cloud services experience: AWS and Google Cloud

Problem Solving & Collaboration

  • Analytical and proactive in tackling complex problems
  • Adaptable in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment
  • Initiative to improve systems, processes, and solutions

Bonus / Preferred Skills

  • Python and Go development experience
  • CI/CD, GitLab, Kubernetes, Terraform, Datadog, Prometheus, Serverless experience
  • Familiarity with Sky: Children of the Light and its community
  • Personal portfolio to showcase projects
