• Pay Range: $191,000 CAD (plus target bonus, equity, and benefits)
• Additional Compensation: Target bonus + target equity + medical, dental, and vision benefits

📝 Job Description

Coinbase is seeking experienced backend engineers to build the next generation of crypto-forward products and features. This role involves solving large-scale, highly complex technical challenges at the intersection of web-scale systems and blockchain technology.

Engineers will design and scale secure, real-time, low-latency systems that support cryptocurrency trading and financial services globally. Within the Growth organization, this role focuses on powering retail product growth through experimentation frameworks, onboarding optimization, referral programs, notifications systems, and accessible web experiences.

The position requires close collaboration with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate product and technical vision into quarterly execution roadmaps.

🔑 Key Responsibilities

• Build and run experiments to drive growth of Coinbase retail products.
• Design scalable backend systems using modern cloud technologies and industry best practices.
• Develop and maintain service-oriented architectures.
• Articulate long-term vision for scaling backend systems and supporting teams.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to transform product and technical vision into actionable roadmaps.
• Write high-quality, well-tested, production-ready code.
• Build secure, high-frequency, low-latency real-time systems.
• Support growth initiatives such as referral programs, onboarding flows, and notification systems.

🎓 Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services.
• Strong understanding of service-oriented architecture.
• Passion for building an open financial system using crypto and blockchain technology.
