About the Role

Amazon’s Last Mile Delivery & Technology team is shaping the future of logistics and delivery solutions worldwide. We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical and thermal design, development, and validation of advanced machine vision and compute devices for automotive and industrial applications.

In this role, you will work closely with product, engineering, and operations teams to tackle complex mechanical challenges, architect innovative solutions, and drive hardware development from concept to production. This is an opportunity for hands-on engineers who thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and highly ambiguous environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design projects from concept through production.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, and business stakeholders) to gather, analyze, and prioritize requirements while balancing multiple objectives.
  • Design and optimize mechanical components, assemblies, and systems, considering integration, materials, manufacturability, assembly, testing, reliability, and cost.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings with accurate geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Perform simulations and analyses for structural, thermal, and vibration performance under multiple loading scenarios.
  • Develop mechanical test plans, including qualification plans and acceptance criteria for production.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and implement mitigation strategies across the product lifecycle.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and manufacturing partners.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and development for consumer, industrial, or automotive electronics.
  • Experience developing functional specifications, design validation plans, and functional test procedures.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CREO, or similar).
  • Knowledge of production manufacturing processes: injection molding, die casting, sheet metal fabrication.
  • Experience writing technical documentation, project plans, and progress reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience leading engineering design projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with prototyping techniques and test platforms to validate design concepts.
  • Proficiency with FEA simulation tools for thermal and structural analysis.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and automotive mechanical standards.
