  • CA, NYC, WA: $122,500 – $179,630
  • CO: $105,100 – $154,110
  • HI, NY (non-NYC): $111,800 – $164,010

Role Overview

Rackspace Technology is seeking a Senior Java Developer / Cloud Engineer to join its multicloud solutions team. This role focuses on designing, automating, and deploying cloud services (GCP preferred) using Java and modern DevOps practices. Candidates will deliver scalable, self-healing applications and work directly with customers to implement solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain well-documented, tested software features that meet customer requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize product performance and address bugs/deficiencies.
  • Participate in agile delivery teams, contributing to technical quality, testing strategies, and documentation.
  • Determine technical feasibility and propose solutions for business requirements.
  • Leverage emerging technologies and cloud architecture to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Travel to client locations as needed for professional services delivery.
  • Maintain continuous integration and deployment pipelines (CI/CD) for cloud applications.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years developing applications in Java.
  • 3+ years in at least one other language: Node.js, Python, Scala, Go, C#, TypeScript, Ruby.
  • Experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure cloud platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases (schema design, queries).
  • Knowledge of distributed systems / microservices architecture.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
  • Agile development experience.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • GCP-specific development experience.
  • Building containerized and serverless applications.
  • Cloud certifications (e.g., GCP Professional Cloud Developer).
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automated deployment.
  • Practical experience on Linux and Windows systems.
  • Direct interaction with customers, partners, or third-party developers.
