We’re a mission-driven startup hiring a senior graphic designer for ongoing, as-needed marketing work.
About Sonar
Sonar is a Stanford-founded startup redefining how personalized mental health support is delivered at scale. Our product provides 24/7 AI-enabled, human-led, chat-based support with trained coaches. This unique human-in-the-loop approach allows us to deliver safe, accessible and effective support at a reasonable cost and has been recognized by the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and CNN.
The Role
We’re looking for a designer who can execute quickly at a high quality bar, make good independent decisions, and deliver polished, production-ready assets with minimal iteration. This is not a role for extended concepting or slow feedback cycles. Speed and execution quality are non-negotiable.
The Work
– Marketing flyers (digital + print)
– One-pagers / PDFs
– Slide decks (sales, marketing, internal)
– Improving existing assets for clarity, hierarchy, and polish
Copy, direction, and brand guidelines are provided.
Non-Negotiables
Speed: Most assets are expected within 2-5 business days
Quality: Clean typography, tight spacing, strong hierarchy, brand-accurate
Autonomy: You make good decisions without needing constant direction
You will receive direct, specific feedback from someone with deep design experience. The bar is high.
Required Experience
– 5+ years of professional graphic design experience
– Strong marketing collateral portfolio (flyers, one-pagers, slides)
– Excellent typography and layout fundamentals
– Proficiency in Figma
– Proven ability to deliver quality work quickly
Engagement & Compensation
This is ongoing contract work and hours will fluctuate month to month, typically 5-20 hours/month. Hourly rate will be based on experience and location. Please propose your preferred rate.
