Role Overview

Walmart International is hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable solutions supporting over 5,900 retail units across 26 countries. The role involves approximately 70% backend and 30% frontend work, contributing to microservices architecture and global-scale platforms.

The position includes mentoring engineers, collaborating with product and UX teams, and driving technical excellence across distributed systems and cloud-native platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development for cross-functional agile teams (4–8 engineers) delivering full-stack features.
  • Translate requirements into scalable solutions using Java, Spring Boot, React, Node.js, Kafka, and modern cloud technologies.
  • Build, test, deploy, and maintain secure APIs, microservices, and user interfaces with high availability.
  • Ensure frontend-backend integration, code quality, and documentation standards.
  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical discussions.
  • Monitor application performance, lead root-cause analyses, and maintain system stability.
  • Explore new technologies and improve engineering workflows.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 2–3 years in a technical lead role.
  • Advanced experience with Java and Spring Boot.
  • Strong experience with React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Proficiency with SQL (Azure SQL) and NoSQL (Cosmos, Cassandra, MongoDB) databases.
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka, Docker/Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and system observability.
  • Experience building enterprise-level full-stack applications with API design, performance optimization, and scalable solutions.
  • Familiarity with security best practices, automation, testing, and BDD approaches.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.

Preferred Skills / Nice-to-Have

  • Master’s degree in relevant technical field.
  • Experience building inclusive and accessible digital experiences (WCAG 2.2 AA).
  • Passion for cloud-native systems and global-scale solutions.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $90,000 – $180,000 per year
