Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Front-end Developer to support the HUD Office of the CIO. You will build responsive, component-based web interfaces for AI/ML pilots and proofs of concept, ensuring accessibility, performance, and compliance with USWDS and Section 508 standards.

This role is fully remote and requires federal background clearance (NACI). Candidates must reside in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Develop responsive web applications using React, HTML, CSS, and modern frameworks
  • Implement AI-enabled features per design and data science guidance
  • Collaborate with UX designers on design systems and accessibility standards
  • Participate in CI/CD pipelines and iterative development
  • Optimize front-end performance, scalability, and maintainability
  • Document code, components, and implementation for HUD governance and AI inventory updates

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of front-end development experience with React.js, HTML, CSS
  • Expertise in React and TypeScript
  • Experience with component-based design, responsive layouts, USWDS, Section 508 compliance, WCAG AA
  • Testing and quality gates: Jest/RTL, Cypress
  • Experience with micro frontend patterns, shared component libraries, Storybook
  • State/data management: Redux/RTK Query, GraphQL
  • Integration with REST/GraphQL APIs and ICAM/login.gov
  • Experience building auditable, role-based UIs within FedRAMP constraints
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps)
  • Federal government or regulated environment experience is a plus
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Technical Skills

  • React.js, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+)
  • Front-end build tools: Webpack, Babel, NPM/Yarn
  • UI frameworks: Bootstrap, Material-UI, Tailwind
  • Version control: Git, GitHub/GitLab
  • Basic understanding of AI/ML integration
  • Other JS frameworks: Angular or Vue preferred
  • Cloud deployment awareness: AWS Amplify, Azure Static Web Apps

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field
  • Front-end development certifications (React, JavaScript, or Web Dev Bootcamp) preferred
