We are seeking a Senior Front-end Developer to support HUD’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), implementing secure, accessible, AI-enabled interfaces for federal applications.
🎯 About the Role
You will design and implement component-based, responsive React interfaces supporting HUD AI/ML proofs of concept and production applications such as the NOFO app and LRS UI uplift.
This role focuses on:
- Accessible, USWDS-compliant UI development
- Establishing reusable design systems
- Delivering secure, observable, and maintainable frontends
- Collaborating across backend, DevOps, and data teams
All work must align with federal compliance standards including Section 508 and WCAG AA.
🛠 Key Responsibilities
- Develop responsive web applications using React, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3
- Implement AI-enabled features based on data science specifications
- Build and maintain shared component libraries and micro-frontend architectures
- Ensure accessibility compliance (Section 508, WCAG AA, USWDS)
- Integrate REST/GraphQL APIs and ICAM/login.gov authentication
- Implement testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress)
- Optimize performance (Web Vitals) and enforce security (OWASP, CSP)
- Document components and code for HUD governance and AI inventory updates
- Participate in CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps)
✅ Required Qualifications
🔹 Experience
- 7+ years of frontend development (React.js, HTML, CSS)
- Strong expertise in React and TypeScript
- Experience in regulated or federal government environments preferred
- Ability to pass federal background screening and maintain clearance
🔹 Technical Expertise
- Component-based architecture & responsive layouts
- Accessibility compliance (USWDS, Section 508, WCAG AA)
- Testing & quality gates (Jest/RTL, Cypress)
- Performance optimization (Web Vitals)
- Security best practices (OWASP, CSP)
- State management (Redux, RTK Query, GraphQL)
- Micro frontends & Storybook
- Role-based, auditable UI systems in FedRAMP CI/CD environments
🔹 Preferred
- Angular or Vue experience
- AI/ML interface integration experience
- Cloud deployment awareness (AWS Amplify, Azure Static Web Apps)
