Overview
A leading technology solutions provider is seeking an experienced Senior Data Center Engineer to support mission-critical projects within the defense sector. This role requires deep technical expertise across virtualization, storage, infrastructure security, and cloud architecture. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience in enterprise data center operations and thrives in high-stakes, secure environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain enterprise data center infrastructure, including servers, virtualization platforms, and storage systems.
  • Administer and optimize VMware environments to ensure performance, scalability, and availability.
  • Implement and maintain operational security controls aligned with defense and compliance requirements.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, network, and system issues across multi-tier environments.
  • Support hybrid cloud architectures and integration with on-premises data center systems.
  • Monitor system health, capacity, and performance to ensure service reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and security teams to deliver project objectives.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Participate in infrastructure modernization and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in data center engineering, infrastructure operations, or related roles.
  • Strong expertise in VMware virtualization technologies (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter).
  • Experience with enterprise storage solutions (SAN/NAS) and backup technologies.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, security controls, and system hardening.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and hybrid infrastructure models.
  • Experience supporting regulated or secure environments (defense, government, or similar) preferred.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

  • Hybrid role with relocation required to Colorado, USA.
