Role Overview

The Software Developer – Automation & Java/Spring is a senior technical professional recognized as a subject matter expert within the organization. This role contributes to directional strategy, influences quality and automation standards, and delivers complex, high-impact solutions that affect business performance across the technology function.

The position requires strong technical judgment, risk awareness, and the ability to guide peers and stakeholders through quality, automation, and SDLC best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Automation & Quality Engineering

  • Maintain and enhance automation testing frameworks within Java and Spring-based environments.
  • Analyze both functional and non-functional requirements to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Conduct complex process monitoring, product evaluations, and audits.
  • Track industry quality trends and apply relevant practices to the current environment.

Standards, Governance & Risk

  • Ensure project standards and procedures are clearly documented and consistently followed throughout the SDLC.
  • Monitor products and processes for conformance to standards and procedural compliance.
  • Identify risks and ensure corrective actions are assigned, tracked, and completed.
  • Lead and support organizational reviews of standards and procedures.

Analysis & Reporting

  • Document findings and perform root cause analysis.
  • Recommend improvements to existing standards and collaborate on defining new ones.
  • Ensure traceability across project work products.
  • Gather, maintain, and report quality metrics to stakeholders.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Act as an advisor and mentor to junior team members.
  • Communicate effectively with multiple levels of management and cross-functional teams.
  • Influence technology-level process changes using diplomacy and technical expertise.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Assess risk in business decisions with particular focus on:
    • Firm reputation
    • Regulatory compliance
    • Protection of Citi, its clients, and assets
  • Adhere to Citi policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Escalate and manage control issues transparently.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 6–10 years of experience in Java and Spring development
  • Strong experience with Oracle Database and SQL
  • Proven knowledge of:
    • Branching strategies
    • DevOps practices
    • CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with Selenium automation (preferred)
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Software testing processes
    • Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

Technical Skills

  • Java
