About the Role
Operations are at the heart of Amazon’s business. Our buildings deliver tens of thousands of products to hundreds of countries every day. The Reliability & Maintenance Engineering (RME) team ensures that all robotics and material handling equipment (MHE) operate at peak performance to deliver the Amazon smile to our customers.
As a Regional Maintenance Manager, you will lead maintenance operations across multiple sites, develop the next generation of maintenance leaders, and drive operational excellence throughout your region. This role blends strategic planning, financial management, and leadership development, while overseeing preventative maintenance, cross-site coordination, and emergency response. You will foster a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement across your regional footprint.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor Maintenance Managers and their teams, including Area Maintenance Managers, service technicians, and automation engineers across multiple sites.
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs, manage regional department budgets, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols across all sites, partnering with site Safety leadership to implement and audit programs.
- Manage capital spending plans, project coordination, and external contractors, maintaining high service standards across the regional network.
- Travel domestically up to 80% to support regional sites, provide hands-on guidance, and ensure consistent operational excellence.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Engineering Technology, or Reliability Engineering, or 2+ years of Amazon RME (BB/3P) Full-Time Exempt experience
- Flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays
- 5+ years industrial maintenance experience
- 4+ years leadership/supervisory experience
- 4+ years managing departmental budgets, performing RCA, and implementing CI initiatives
- 4+ years managing and communicating results to senior leadership
- 4+ years experience with CMMS programs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading network-level/multi-site maintenance organizations
- Professional Engineer License
- Experience with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) integrators and integrated systems
- Project management and statistical analysis experience
- Master’s degree or Six Sigma Black Belt certification

Salary Range
- Chicago, IL: $123,300 – $166,800 USD annually
