About the Position:
We are seeking a highly experienced, board-certified Internal Medicine Physician for a GS-15 level position within the federal healthcare system. This leadership-level role involves providing comprehensive medical care, mentoring junior medical staff, overseeing complex patient cases, and potentially participating in policy development, academic training, or medical research initiatives.

This position offers a meaningful opportunity to serve military personnel, veterans, or underserved populations while leading excellence in clinical care and public health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct patient care to adult patients with acute and chronic conditions in an outpatient or inpatient internal medicine setting
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in internal medicine and provide clinical guidance to mid-level providers, residents, or fellows
  • Review and oversee complex patient cases, referrals, diagnostic assessments, and treatment plans
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care
  • Contribute to teaching, clinical supervision, or training of medical residents and students (if affiliated with academic institutions)
  • Participate in policy review, quality assurance programs, utilization management, and medical peer reviews
  • Maintain timely documentation in electronic health record systems (e.g., CPRS, AHLTA, Epic)
  • May provide administrative leadership in service line development or clinical program direction

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited institution
  • Completion of an accredited residency in Internal Medicine
  • Board Certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or equivalent
  • Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state or territory
  • U.S. Citizenship (required for federal GS positions)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance and credentialing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in federal or military health systems (VA, DOD, IHS, etc.)
  • Experience with complex care coordination, geriatric medicine, or multi-specialty integration
  • Academic appointment or teaching experience with ACGME-accredited programs
  • Experience in clinical quality improvement, EHR optimization, or leadership roles
