EmpowerDB is a web-based database platform used primarily by domestic violence and sexual assault service providers to securely collect, manage, analyze, and report data about their work.

We are currently hiring:

• One Mid-Level PHP Web Developer
• One Entry-Level / Apprentice Web Developer

Our technology stack includes:

• PHP (no framework)
• MySQL
• HTML
• CSS
• JavaScript / jQuery

Mid-Level Developer

Responsibilities

• Add custom functionality to support unique client requests
• Design thoughtful, efficient solutions within an established codebase
• Migrate data using SQL queries or PHP scripts (smaller jobs)
• Debug and resolve system issues
• Build reporting pages using PHP or our proprietary reporting platform
• Mentor and support the entry-level developer

Requirements

• Prior professional web development experience
• Strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery
• Experience working within an existing system and legacy codebase
• Ability to adapt and build solutions within structured constraints

Compensation

💰 $100,000 USD per year
(Final offer may vary based on location, experience, and market conditions)

Entry-Level / Apprentice Developer

Responsibilities

• Provide customer support (directly or by triaging requests internally)
• Learn the codebase through daily system exposure
• Gradually transition into writing and contributing production code
• Support ongoing client needs with professionalism and clarity

Requirements

• No formal web development experience required
• Strong comfort with technology
• Demonstrated excellence in a complementary skill area
• Exceptional communication skills
• Eagerness to learn and grow into a developer role

Compensation

💰 $50,000 USD per year
