Job Description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced .NET Web Developer III to design, develop, test, implement, and maintain applications in .NET with GIS capabilities in support of the External Services Division (EX), Watershed Management. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in enterprise-level application development, has experience with Esri JavaScript APIs, and can collaborate effectively in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain features for .NET-based applications.
  • Develop GIS-enabled applications, leveraging Esri JavaScript APIs.
  • Build applications with Oracle backend databases, including stored procedures and SQL optimization.
  • Create and maintain web APIs and SSRS reports.
  • Work in Visual Studio and Azure DevOps, managing repositories, version control, and deployments.
  • Apply Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and implement standard security methods for custom applications.
  • Follow coding standards and best practices to ensure code quality.
  • Participate in testing activities, including identifying scenarios, setting up test data, executing tests, and documenting results.
  • Follow the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and IT best practices for project execution.
  • Collaborate with team members, stakeholders, and other divisions to ensure project success.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation.
  • Apply Agile/Iterative/Scrum methodologies for project delivery from initiation through maintenance.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Advanced application development skills in Microsoft .NET Framework (8+ years).
  • Strong coding experience in .NET MVC, including C#, VB.NET, JavaScript, and Bootstrap (8+ years).
  • Experience with GIS development, specifically Esri JavaScript APIs (2+ years).
  • Experience developing applications with Oracle backend databases including SQL and stored procedures (8+ years).
  • Proficient in Visual Studio and Azure DevOps, including version control, CI/CD pipelines, and work item management.
  • Experience applying Object-Oriented Design principles.
  • Experience developing web APIs and SSRS reports.
  • Strong familiarity with SDLC, IT best practices, and Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong team player mentality.

Preferred / Additional Skills

  • Experience writing technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint.
  • Prior experience with DNR or other government agencies.
  • Understanding and adherence to DNR standards and procedures for source code management, file management, and change management processes.
