About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead WordPress / PHP Developer to join our growing remote team. In this role, you will lead both internal and client-facing WordPress initiatives, building advanced features, custom plugins, and scalable solutions while mentoring team members and promoting engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development of custom WordPress themes, plugins, and advanced features
  • Design and build scalable applications using PHP and LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, estimate, and deliver projects
  • Integrate third-party APIs with performance and security considerations
  • Implement and maintain WordPress security best practices
  • Develop internal tools and reusable components
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and quality assurance processes
  • Mentor developers and contribute to a culture of growth and innovation

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Advanced expertise in PHP development
  • Strong experience with WordPress development (custom plugins & themes)
  • Hands-on experience with LAMP stack and Git version control
  • Deep understanding of modern PHP practices (OOP, MVC, autoloading, dependency management)
  • Solid JavaScript knowledge (ES6+, Webpack, Babel, modern tooling)
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and time-management skills
  • Understanding of application and WordPress security best practices

Preferred / Bonus Skills

  • CSS preprocessors such as Sass or PostCSS
  • Responsive frameworks (Foundation, Bulma, etc.)
  • Cloud platforms such as AWS
  • CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
  • Experience building WordPress Blocks (Gutenberg)
  • Familiarity with React (nice to have)
