Overview

Alliant University seeks a Lead Web Developer & Manager with 12+ years of professional web development experience. This role combines hands-on development with strategic oversight of enterprise-level websites and digital initiatives. The ideal candidate is well-versed in modern front-end and back-end practices, enterprise CMS platforms (WordPress Multisite, Drupal), and integrations with marketing and analytics systems (Marketo, Salesforce, GA4, GTM, VWO).

This role emphasizes AI-driven web optimization, technical SEO, A/B testing, user experience analytics, and collaboration across marketing, content, and paid media teams. While not a direct supervisory role, this position will mentor developers, coordinate contractors, and provide technical guidance for digital projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead hands-on development, maintenance, and enhancement of Alliant University marketing websites.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for enterprise CMS platforms, ensuring site reliability, accessibility, speed, and data integrity.
  • Implement and maintain integrations with Marketo, Salesforce, GA4, GTM, VWO, and other marketing/analytics platforms.
  • Collaborate with SEO and Web Performance teams on technical SEO, Core Web Vitals, and site performance optimization.
  • Support Paid Media initiatives, including landing pages, lead-generation forms, and conversion tracking.
  • Execute A/B and multivariate testing to optimize engagement and conversion performance.
  • Build dashboards and reports covering SEO, UX behavior, AI Overview visibility, and form conversion analytics.
  • Participate in vendor evaluations, RFP reviews, and technical discussions with web development partners.
  • Coordinate contractor and contributor workstreams, ensuring adherence to technical standards.
  • Assist in onboarding and mentoring new web team contributors.
  • Evaluate emerging web technologies, including AI-driven content optimization (AI Overview, GEO), and recommend solutions aligned with marketing goals.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience in a higher education or marketing web environment may be considered.

Experience:

  • Minimum 12 years of professional experience in web development and related technical disciplines.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise CMS platforms (WordPress Multisite, Drupal), Gutenberg, and modern theme frameworks.
  • Demonstrated collaboration with SEO, content, and paid media teams to develop high-performing digital experiences.
  • Experience with analytics-driven optimization, A/B testing, web performance improvement, UX tracking, and lead-generation integrations.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven technologies, including AI Overview optimization and generative engine optimization (GEO).
  • Prior experience coordinating contractors or project contributors; direct staff management not required.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in PHP, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, RESTful API development.
  • Strong knowledge of web architecture, security best practices, and scalable hosting environments.
  • Deep understanding of technical SEO, structured data, Core Web Vitals, and site performance optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with A/B testing, multivariate testing tools, and UX performance tracking.
  • Version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and code review experience.
  • Experience with web analytics platforms (GA4, Looker Studio), AI-based analytics, and automated content auditing.
  • Skilled in project management tools (Asana, Monday.com) and remote collaboration.

Work Environment

  • Remote-first with occasional on-campus visits as needed.
  • Standard office hours with occasional off-hours deployment or maintenance.
  • Limited travel for conferences, vendor collaboration, or training.
  • Work performed primarily on computers, virtual collaboration, and digital systems.

Supervisory & Contact Responsibilities

  • No direct reports; may assign tasks to contractors or contributors.
  • Mentor future hires or technical staff as needed.
  • Collaborate internally with Marketing, IT, Admissions, faculty, and staff for web updates and technical support.
  • Interface externally with vendors, hosting providers, and contractors for website maintenance and development.
