💼 Role Overview
Position: Lead Web Developer & Manager
Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Starting Salary: $120,000 annually
Location: Remote (occasional on-campus visits as needed)
Experience: 12+ years in web development and technical leadership
The Lead Web Developer & Manager will own the technical strategy and execution of Alliant University’s marketing websites. This includes CMS management, front-end and back-end development, SEO and analytics optimization, AI-driven web strategies, and contractor coordination. The role is hands-on, but does not include formal staff or budget management.
🛠 Key Responsibilities
- Lead hands-on web development and maintenance across Alliant University’s marketing websites.
- Collaborate with the VP of Website Strategy to support digital planning and provide technical recommendations for web initiatives.
- Ensure site reliability, accessibility, speed, and data integrity.
- Integrate and maintain platforms like Marketo, Salesforce, GA4, GTM, and VWO.
- Implement technical SEO, Core Web Vitals improvements, and web performance optimizations.
- Support Paid Media campaigns with landing pages, conversion tracking, and lead-generation forms.
- Conduct A/B and multivariate testing to enhance UX and conversion performance.
- Build dashboards and reports covering SEO, UX behavior, AI-driven visibility, and form conversions.
- Maintain, enhance, and optimize CMS platforms (WordPress Multisite, Drupal, Gutenberg, modern themes).
- Coordinate with contractors and external vendors, ensuring technical standards and quality.
- Mentor contributors and provide technical guidance to the web team.
- Keep abreast of emerging web technologies, including AI-powered tools for content discovery, GEO, and AI Overview optimization.
✅ Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field. Equivalent experience in higher education or marketing web environments considered.
- Experience: 12+ years in professional web development, with enterprise CMS experience (WordPress, Drupal).
- Hands-on experience with PHP, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, REST APIs.
- Strong expertise in technical SEO, Core Web Vitals, structured data, and web performance optimization.
- Experience with A/B testing, multivariate testing, and UX tracking tools.
- Understanding of AI-driven optimization, GEO, AI Overview, and AI-influenced content discovery.
- Familiarity with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and code review practices.
- Proficiency in web analytics (GA4, Looker Studio) and AI-based content auditing tools.
- Strong project management skills (Asana, Monday.com).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
